Closed End Countersunk Head Blind Rivet — Product Introduction
GB/T 12616—1990 closed end countersunk head blind rivet is a single-side riveting fastener consisting of a rivet body and a mandrel. After riveting, the tail of the rivet body expands to form a closed drum-shaped blind end, and the head is countersunk, sitting flush with the workpiece surface. Compared with open-end types, its biggest feature is the closed tail of the rivet body, which provides sealing performance after riveting and prevents gas or liquid leakage from the riveted joint. Common material combinations include aluminum alloy rivet body/steel mandrel (Grade 11), all stainless steel (Grade 50), all steel (Grade 30), etc. It is widely used in thin sheet connections requiring waterproofing, dustproofing or a flush appearance.
1. Product Features
• Single-side riveting: Operation is required only on one side of the workpiece, suitable for closed structures or those where both sides cannot be accessed.
• Closed end tail: After pulling, the tail of the rivet body forms a closed bulge without penetrating or opening, providing good sealing performance.
• Countersunk head design: After riveting, the head sits flush with the workpiece surface, giving a flat appearance and reducing protruding obstacles.
• Various material combinations: Options include aluminum/steel, all aluminum, all steel, all stainless steel, copper/steel, etc., meeting different strength and corrosion resistance requirements.
• Fast installation: Can be completed with an ordinary rivet gun, simple to operate and highly efficient.
• Strong connection: Forms a permanent mechanical connection, resistant to vibration and loosening, with good reliability.
2. Product Advantages
• Good sealing performance: The closed tail effectively prevents water, oil, gas and dust from leaking through the rivet hole, suitable for applications with high sealing requirements.
• Flat and attractive appearance: The countersunk head design makes the riveted surface smooth, suitable for cabinets, enclosures and panels with appearance requirements.
• Optional corrosion resistance: All stainless steel or aluminum/steel combinations can adapt to humid, acidic, alkaline and outdoor harsh environments.
• High installation efficiency: Compared with welding or bolted connections, riveting is faster, reduces processes and lowers overall cost.
• Wide application range: Can connect similar or dissimilar thin sheet materials, with low requirements on workpiece surface and strong adaptability.
• Stable quality: Riveting force is controlled by the tool, providing good riveting consistency and reliable quality in mass production.
3. Scope of Application
• Thin sheet structures requiring sealing: Such as containers, pipes, ventilation equipment, vehicle bodies and other parts requiring waterproofing, dustproofing or leak prevention.
• Closed or semi-closed enclosures: Electrical cabinets, control cabinets, chassis, communication equipment housings, etc.
• Transportation vehicles: Automobile bodies, bus skins, truck side panels, rail vehicle interiors, etc.
• Construction and decoration: Aluminum curtain walls, doors and windows, guardrails, billboards, ventilation ducts and other applications requiring a flat appearance.
• Home appliances and electronic equipment: Air conditioner housings, washing machine cabinets, instrument and meter housings, etc.
• Ships and outdoor equipment: All stainless steel closed end rivets are suitable for ship interiors, coastal facilities, outdoor cabinets and other high-humidity, high-salt environments.
