Open End Blind Rivet with Round Flat Head – Product Introduction
The open end blind rivet with round flat head is a fast-acting fastener designed for single-side operation using a rivet gun. It consists of a round flat head rivet body and a mandrel with a predetermined break-notch. During riveting, the mandrel is pulled into the rivet body, causing the tail of the body to expand and deform to form a clinched head. When properly seated, the mandrel breaks at the preset location and separates, completing the connection. The “open end” design refers to the fully slotted tail of the rivet body, which provides a large expansion range and excellent filling capability. The “round flat head” offers a smooth, low-profile head contour. Available in various material combinations including aluminum/steel, all-stainless steel, and all-aluminum, these rivets widely replace traditional bolts and solid rivets in closed or semi-closed structural assemblies where double-sided access is difficult.
I. Product Features
Single-Side Pull Riveting: Simply insert from one side and pull the mandrel to complete the riveting process. No hammering or pressing required, making it particularly suitable for blind holes, tubes, and other work positions where the back side is inaccessible.
Open End Tail Expansion: The rivet body tail is fully split, expanding outward during pull riveting to form a clinched head with large contact area. It can reliably join thin sheets, soft materials, or workpieces with irregular hole diameters.
Preset Break-Neck Automatic Separation: The mandrel has a precision break-notch that automatically fractures when the set pulling force is reached. This ensures consistent riveting force without requiring experienced judgment.
Multi-Material Combination Compatibility: Rivet bodies are available in aluminum alloy, carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, etc., while mandrels are typically carbon steel or stainless steel. Flexible selection based on strength, corrosion resistance, weight, and other requirements.
Low-Profile Round Flat Head: The head features a wide, flat, rounded shape. After installation, the appearance is smooth with no sharp protrusions, meeting aesthetic and safety requirements.
II. Product Advantages
Extremely Fast Installation, High Efficiency: Used with manual, pneumatic, or electric rivet guns, each rivet can be installed in just a few seconds. Particularly suitable for high-volume assembly line operations.
Simple Operation, No Skilled Labor Required: The process is complete when the mandrel breaks. The standardized procedure is not affected by operator skill level, ensuring consistent quality.
Vibration-Resistant and Secure Connection: The clinched head formed after expansion, together with the rivet body head, clamps the joined materials, providing excellent vibration and impact resistance.
Protects Workpiece Surface: The round flat head has a large contact area with the joined surface, preventing damage to thin sheets or coatings. It also prevents workpiece damage during vibration.
Strong Adaptability: Suitable for joining different thicknesses and different materials (metal, plastic, composite materials, etc.), and can compensate for certain hole diameter deviations.
III. Applications
Automotive and Body Repair: Single-side assembly of body sheet metal, interior panels, window regulators, bumper brackets, and various accessories.
Construction and Curtain Wall Decoration: Corner bracket connections for aluminum window and door frames, curtain wall framework fixing, ceiling suspension systems, and ventilation duct flange assembly.
Electronics and Electrical Enclosures: Frame and panel fixing for server cabinets, distribution boxes, and control boxes.
Containers and Metal Products: Assembly of container corrugated panels, shelving, guardrails, and metal furniture.
Home Appliances and Consumer Goods: Casings for white goods such as washing machines and refrigerators, as well as handle connections for fitness equipment and gardening tools.
Lightweight and Dissimilar Material Connections: Used in aerospace and rail transit for joining aluminum alloy-composite material thin-walled structures.
