Product Overview
The hexagon head wood screw is manufactured to GB 102-1986. Its hexagonal head can be driven with a wrench or socket, so torque transmission is far better than with a slotted or cross recess. This makes it suitable for larger diameters and timber connections that need high tightening torque. The thread is a wood-screw type with a coarse pitch and a sharp tapered point that cuts the wood fibres as it is driven in, so the timber is less likely to split.
1. Product Features
- Hexagon head: can be driven with a wrench, socket or power tool, giving strong torque transmission.
- Suits large diameters (M6 to M20) and high tightening torques.
- Wood-screw thread with coarse pitch and sharp tapered point; drives smoothly into timber without splitting.
- Head width across flats is controlled to the standard to match standard wrenches and sockets.
- Available in carbon steel and stainless steel to suit the service environment.
2. Product Advantages
- The hexagon head allows mechanised, high-volume assembly, clearly faster than slotted wood screws.
- Resists cam-out and head damage under high torque, making it suitable for hardwoods and high-strength joints.
- High degree of standardisation: the GB 102 dimensional system is complete, which simplifies export matching and second sourcing.
- Material and surface finish can be customised to balance strength, corrosion resistance and cost.
3. Application Scope
- Timber building structures, timber houses and boardwalks with load-bearing timber members.
- Assembly of wooden packing cases, pallets and large wooden crates.
- Outdoor timber installations such as fences, pergolas and wooden decks.
- Stainless steel versions suit damp or mildly corrosive environments such as outdoor woodwork and coastal areas.
