Cross Recessed Pan Head Thread Rolling Screw — Product Introduction
The cross recessed pan head thread rolling screw (GB/T 6560-2014) is a fastener that forms an internal thread in ductile metal or plastic substrates by extrusion. It is also commonly known as a “triangular thread screw.” Its thread has an arc-shaped triangular cross-section; when driven into the pilot hole, it forms the mating thread by extrusion rather than cutting, achieving low driving torque and high locking performance.
I. Product Features
- Triangular thread structure: The thread cross-section is an arc-shaped triangle that forms the mating internal thread by extruding material in the pilot hole, classifying it as a special type of self-tapping screw.
- Standard pan head and cross recess: The head type and dimensions are identical to GB/T 818, using a standard cross recess (Type H or Type Z), compatible with common Phillips screwdrivers and power tools.
- Specification coverage M2–M10: Thread sizes range from M2 to M10, with nominal lengths covering 25 mm to 38 mm and above, meeting a wide range of assembly needs.
- Varied materials and grades: Available in carbon steel (grade 4.8, 8.8, 10.9, 12.9) or stainless steel (304, 316); surface treatments include blue-white zinc, colored zinc, Dacromet, and nickel plating.
- Customizable options: Supports combined Phillips-slot recesses, tamper-proof recesses, locking threads, and adhesive-patched screws per custom requirements.
II. Product Advantages
- Low driving torque, high locking performance: The extrusion forming of the triangular thread reduces insertion resistance while producing a tight thread fit, giving better locking than ordinary self-tapping screws.
- No tapping, no nut required: No pre-tapped internal thread is needed, nor a mating nut, simplifying assembly and lowering part cost.
- Suitable for harder materials: Compared with ordinary self-tapping screws, the triangular thread design allows it to tap into harder ductile metals such as sheet steel.
- High formed-thread strength: The extruded thread has continuous metal grain flow, so its strength exceeds that of cut-formed threads, making the joint more reliable.
- Large head bearing area: The pan head provides a larger bearing surface that disperses pressure when tightened, ideal for joining thin sheets or soft materials.
III. Application Scope
- Ductile metal sheets: Connection of ductile metals such as aluminum, copper, and magnesium alloys — the most typical application of thread rolling screws.
- Plastic part assembly: Self-tapping, self-locking joints in plastic components, widely used in electronics and home appliances.
- Electronics and precision equipment: Low-torque self-tapping joints in small electronic devices, instruments, and precision machinery.
- Automotive and appliances: Sheet-metal fastening of automotive interior trims and appliance housings and internal components.
- General industrial assembly: Thin-sheet metal structures requiring tapping-free, rapid assembly.
