SELF-DRILLING SCREW — PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Self-drilling screws, also known as self-drilling tapping screws, drill-tail screws, or SDS fasteners, are high-efficiency fasteners that combine drilling, tapping, and fastening in a single operation. The tail is designed with a drill-point structure similar to a twist drill bit, allowing direct drilling through metal sheets, steel structures, or hard materials without the need for pre-drilling or tapping. Powered by electric tools, the screw completes drilling, thread forming, and fastening in one step, significantly reducing construction time and lowering labor costs. These fasteners are widely used in steel structures, colored steel roofing, light steel framing, metal roofing systems, sheet metal fabrication, home appliance manufacturing, and more.

I. PRODUCT FEATURES

Self-drilling and self-tapping — one step, done right:
The drill-point tip requires no auxiliary machining; it can drill directly through metal sheets or hard materials and form mating threads in the hole simultaneously, achieving “one drill, one fix.”

Extremely high construction efficiency:
Compared with traditional workflows of pre-drilling followed by fastening, self-drilling screws combine drilling, tapping, and fastening into a single operation, maximizing time savings and improving project efficiency.

Strong, reliable, and vibration-resistant:
Self-drilling screws offer superior pull-out resistance and clamp load retention compared with standard screws. Once fastened, the joint provides strong clamping force with high preload, remaining securely fastened over extended use.

Versatile materials and optional corrosion resistance:
Available primarily in carbon steel and stainless steel. Carbon steel products are typically finished with zinc plating, colored zinc, Dacromet, or blue-white zinc coatings. Stainless steel options (such as SUS410, SUS304) achieve high hardness and excellent corrosion resistance after heat treatment, making them suitable for outdoor and humid environments.

High hardness, powerful drilling capability:
After carburizing heat treatment or选用可热处理材质 such as SUS410, the drill point achieves a surface hardness of HV580–HV750 or above. The screw can easily penetrate steel plates, colored steel tiles, and other hard materials with strong drilling capacity and high resistance to breakage.

Excellent corrosion resistance:
Carbon steel products treated with colored zinc, blue-white zinc, Dacromet, or other coatings meet varying corrosion resistance requirements. Stainless steel products rely on the inherent properties of the material for long-term rust prevention, making them ideal for outdoor, humid, and corrosive environments.

Complete specifications, wide applicability:
Common diameter sizes include Φ4.2, Φ4.8, Φ5.5, and Φ6.3mm; lengths are customizable upon request.

Hot-dip galvanizing and Dacromet are common choices for outdoor applications. For humid, coastal or chemical environments, stainless steel 304/316 or higher corrosion-resistant solutions may be better.

Please provide drawings or 3D files, material, dimensions, tolerance, grade, surface treatment, packing method and quantity. If drawings are not ready, samples or installation photos can also be reviewed.

Bolts and nuts should match nominal diameter, thread pitch, thread type, standard and strength grade. High-strength connections should also use suitable washers and anti-loosening solutions.
