Type B Foundation Bolt (Commonly Known as “9-Shaped” Anchor Bolt) – Product Introduction

The Type B Foundation Bolt (commonly known as the “9-shaped” anchor bolt) is a concrete foundation embedded anchor fastener conforming to the GB/T 799-2020 national standard. The shank end is formed into a large-angle hook through a hot-bending process, earning its name from its resemblance to the Arabic numeral “9.” Compared with Type A, Type B features a “thin-shank” design — the shank diameter (including the hooked section) is smaller than the nominal thread diameter — effectively reducing material costs while maintaining sufficient anchoring strength. The product is made from high-quality stainless steel 304/316L or high-strength carbon steel Q235B, with precise hook angles and high thread accuracy, and is widely used for permanent anchor fastening of general-load equipment foundations, structural steel column bases, and municipal facilities.

I. Product Features

9-shaped large-angle hook: The end is bent into a large-angle hook approximating 180°, with a regular hook shape and smooth arc, forming a unique mechanical locking structure in concrete with stable and reliable pull-out resistance.

Energy-saving thin-shank design: The shank diameter (including the hooked section) is smaller than the nominal thread diameter. Compared with the Type A heavy-shank structure, the steel usage per unit is reduced by approximately 15%-20%, significantly lowering material costs and product weight while meeting application requirements.

Full stainless steel / carbon steel options: 304 (06Cr19Ni10) or 316L stainless steel provides excellent acid-alkali and salt-fog resistance, suitable for humid and corrosive environments. Carbon steel materials (Q235B / No. 45 steel) offer better cost performance, ideal for general indoor or dry environments.

Thread rolled forming: The threaded section is processed by rolling, with full thread profile and smooth surface, achieving precision class 6g. It mates smoothly with nuts for reliable locking.

Hook free from crack defects: Hot-bending forming strictly controls heating temperature, with no visible cracks on the outer surface of the arc and uniform internal metallographic structure, ensuring reliable strength at the hook.

Wide size range coverage: Thread diameters range from M12 to M64, with total lengths up to 200mm to 2500mm, meeting diverse needs from medium and light-duty equipment to general industrial plant applications.

II. Product Advantages

Outstanding cost-performance ratio with low overall cost: The Type B thin-shank design ensures anchoring strength while saving steel usage compared with Type A, offering particularly significant cost advantages in large-volume procurement — the preferred choice for cost-conscious engineering projects.

Stable and reliable anchoring performance: The 9-shaped large-angle hook generates grip force in concrete far exceeding that of straight-shank bolts, effectively resisting uplift forces and vibration loads from equipment operation, ensuring long-term safety of foundation connections.

Lightweight for easier construction and transportation: Compared with Type A heavy-shank bolts, Type B is lighter, making transportation, handling, and on-site installation easier, effectively reducing labor costs and logistics expenses.

Convenient construction and simple positioning: During embedment, simply drill a hole through the formwork and insert the bolt. The hook end can be reinforced with transverse rebar passed through the hook, requiring no complex welding, significantly improving on-site construction efficiency and shortening project schedules.

Flexible material and surface treatment options: Carbon steel can be provided with various surface treatments — black oxide, zinc plating, hot-dip galvanizing, Dacromet — to suit different corrosive environments. Stainless steel requires no surface treatment, achieving lifetime maintenance-free performance.

Fast non-standard customization response: We support customization per customer drawings for special lengths, thread specifications, and hook angles, providing one-stop service from raw material procurement to finished product inspection, with flexible and guaranteed delivery times.

III. Application Scope

Type B Foundation Bolts are suitable for medium-to-light load scenarios that require a certain level of foundation anchoring strength while balancing economic costs, specifically including:

General mechanical equipment foundations: Concrete foundation fastening for medium and small-sized air compressors, water pumps, fans, air conditioning units, conveying equipment, and packaging machinery.

Light-duty structural steel column bases: Steel column base anchorage for single-story light-duty steel structure factories, warehouses, prefabricated houses, and simple shed frames.

Municipal and transportation facilities: Foundation embedment for highway guardrail posts, traffic sign brackets, bus stop columns, urban streetlight poles, and garden lamp foundations.

Telecommunications and power facilities: Foundation anchoring for small communication towers, distribution line poles, and outdoor substation equipment brackets.

Agriculture and landscaping facilities: Greenhouses, irrigation equipment foundations, landscape columns, fences, and large flower rack foundations.

General industrial buildings: Factory equipment platforms, small overhead crane rail foundations, and loading/unloading equipment fixed foundations — project scenarios with moderate loads and certain cost requirements.

Procurement Questions

Common procurement questions about specification, material, finish and delivery.

Please confirm the application position, load, connection thickness and working environment first, then match diameter, length, thread pitch, material, strength grade, surface finish and applicable standard. Drawings, photos or old samples help us quote more accurately.

Hot-dip galvanizing and Dacromet are common choices for outdoor applications. For humid, coastal or chemical environments, stainless steel 304/316 or higher corrosion-resistant solutions may be better.

Please provide drawings or 3D files, material, dimensions, tolerance, grade, surface treatment, packing method and quantity. If drawings are not ready, samples or installation photos can also be reviewed.

Bolts and nuts should match nominal diameter, thread pitch, thread type, standard and strength grade. High-strength connections should also use suitable washers and anti-loosening solutions.
