COUNTERSUNK SQUARE NECK BOLT — PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

The countersunk square neck bolt is a specialized fastener featuring a square projection neck beneath a countersunk flat head. It is manufactured in accordance with GB/T 10 (Chinese national standard), DIN 605 (German standard), and ISO 2342 (International standard). Made from carbon steel, alloy steel, or stainless steel, the square neck engages with a pre-machined square hole or slot in the workpiece during installation, effectively preventing the bolt from rotating when tightened. After fastening, the head sits flush with or below the surface, leaving no protrusion. It is widely used in wood construction, furniture manufacturing, automotive body panels, agricultural machinery, and building hardware — anywhere a flush surface finish and anti-rotation capability are required.

I. PRODUCT FEATURES

Countersunk flat head design: The head features a tapered countersunk profile that sits flush with or slightly below the workpiece surface after installation, preventing snagging and providing a clean, smooth appearance — especially suitable for moving parts or applications where a decorative cover will be applied.

Square neck anti-rotation function: The neck below the head is square in cross-section. During assembly, it fits into a square hole or slot in the workpiece, preventing the shank from rotating as the nut is tightened. This allows a single person to complete one-sided tightening, greatly simplifying installation.

Standardized dimensional specifications: Fully compliant with GB/T 10, DIN 605 and other standards, with strictly controlled tolerances on threads, countersunk angle, and square neck width — ensuring strong interchangeability and easy replacement.

Clear material grades available: Options include carbon steel (Grade 4.8, Grade 5.6), high-strength alloy steel (Grade 8.8, Grade 10.9), and stainless steel (A2 / A4), meeting varying strength requirements from ordinary wood construction to heavy-duty machinery.

Diverse surface treatments: Standard options include black oxide, zinc plating, hot-dip galvanizing, and Dacromet coating; stainless steel versions are available in plain or passivated finish — suitable for indoor, outdoor, humid, and acidic/alkaline environments.

II. PRODUCT ADVANTAGES

Complete anti-rotation for highly efficient installation: The fit between the square neck and the workpiece hole fundamentally solves the “spinning bolt” problem. On-site installation requires only one wrench on the nut side, saving time and effort — particularly valuable in enclosed or overhead areas where two-sided access is difficult.

Flush and aesthetically pleasing surface: The countersunk design ensures the bolt head does not protrude above the workpiece surface, satisfying the appearance requirements of furniture, vehicle bodies, and flooring while maintaining safety. Paint or decorative covers can be applied easily afterward.

Reliable connection with long service life: The shear force on the square neck is distributed across the entire neck surface, making it resistant to deformation or loosening. Combined with the corrosion resistance of zinc-plated carbon steel or stainless steel, the connection maintains a long-lasting, stable fastening effect even under vibration and environmental exposure.

Multi-standard compatibility: Compatible with Chinese, German, and international standards simultaneously, making it easy to match for both domestic engineering projects and exported equipment — reducing procurement and inventory pressure.

Cost-effective and efficient: Standard carbon steel versions cost far less than comparable washered combination bolts, while providing more direct anti-rotation performance. In mass-produced furniture and vehicle assembly, they effectively reduce labor time.

III. APPLICATION SCOPE

Wood construction and furniture: In solid wood tables and chairs, bed frames, wooden pallets, and log cabin beam connections, the square neck sits flush in a pre-cut square hole, leaving the head flat and non-protruding — safe to touch and will not catch on clothing after fastening.

Automotive and agricultural machinery: For body frames, chassis floor panels, fenders, and footplates — applications that require vibration resistance and a flush surface, with one-sided tightening well suited to assembly line operations.

Construction and hardware: In access control brackets, handrail bases, expansion joint covers, and guardrail connections — anywhere the bolt head must remain unobtrusive and not create a tripping hazard.

Railway and public facilities: For rail clip plates and signal equipment mounting plates, leveraging the square neck anti-rotation and countersunk flush features to prevent loosening or dangerous head protrusion caused by vibration.

Tools and equipment: In the chassis, blade guards, and protective panel assembly of outdoor power equipment such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, and trailers — often using zinc-plated or stainless steel countersunk square neck bolts.

Procurement Questions

Common procurement questions about specification, material, finish and delivery.

Please confirm the application position, load, connection thickness and working environment first, then match diameter, length, thread pitch, material, strength grade, surface finish and applicable standard. Drawings, photos or old samples help us quote more accurately.

Hot-dip galvanizing and Dacromet are common choices for outdoor applications. For humid, coastal or chemical environments, stainless steel 304/316 or higher corrosion-resistant solutions may be better.

Please provide drawings or 3D files, material, dimensions, tolerance, grade, surface treatment, packing method and quantity. If drawings are not ready, samples or installation photos can also be reviewed.

Bolts and nuts should match nominal diameter, thread pitch, thread type, standard and strength grade. High-strength connections should also use suitable washers and anti-loosening solutions.
