HIGH-STRENGTH BOLT FOR STEEL SPACE GRID BOLTED BALL NODE — PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
The space grid bolt, formally known as the high-strength bolt for steel space grid bolted ball node, is a critical fastener used to connect ball nodes to structural members in spatial steel grid structures (space grids and grid shells). It is manufactured to standard GB/T 16939-2016. The product consists of a threaded rod, hex sleeve, cone head or end cap, and locking pin. By screwing the bolt into the threaded hole of the ball node and tightening with the sleeve, a reliable hinged spatial structure is formed. With 10.9S as the core performance grade and ML35CrMo alloy steel as the primary material, the product is typically finished with black oxide treatment.
I. PRODUCT FEATURES
Specialized design for bolted ball nodes: One end of the bolt shank is fully threaded and the other is an unthreaded smooth shaft. The threaded end screws into the ball node, while the smooth end passes through the member end cap, providing a compact structure that enables standardized assembly.
High-strength alloy steel material: Primarily made from ML35CrMo, 42CrMo and other alloy steels, subjected to quenching and tempering heat treatment. Mechanical properties stably reach the 10.9 grade standard, meeting the load-bearing requirements of large-span structures.
Complete matching set supply: The bolt, hex sleeve, locking pin, and cone head or end cap form a complete connection set. The sleeve transfers tightening torque to the bolt while the pin locks in place to prevent loosening, ensuring the overall reliability of the node.
Standardized specification series: Common specifications range from M12 to M100, with mostly fine threads (e.g., M30×2, M36×3), adapting to different member and ball node sizes.
II. PRODUCT ADVANTAGES
High load-bearing capacity: The 10.9S high-strength grade, combined with excellent toughness and ductility, enables the bolt to withstand alternating tensile and compressive loads from wind, snow, and seismic forces in space grid structures.
Excellent assembly accuracy: Fine thread and tight-clearance fit ensure precise node positioning. After installation, structural deformation is minimal and geometric dimensional control is excellent.
High construction efficiency: Standardized node components and unified bolt specifications allow for rapid on-site assembly, making it ideal for large-area space grid project installations.
Outstanding cost-effectiveness: Compared with welded nodes, bolted ball nodes eliminate on-site welding operations, reducing labor and inspection costs, resulting in lower overall project expense.
III. APPLICATION SCOPE
Spatial steel grid structures: Large-span roof space grids and grid shells for sports stadiums, exhibition halls, airport terminals, railway stations, and similar venues.
Industrial plants and warehouses: Large factory roof supports, logistics warehouse grids, coal storage sheds in power plants, and other industrial buildings.
Towers and structures: Transmission line towers, communication towers, billboard steel frameworks, observation towers, and similar elevated structures.
Public building decorative frameworks: Complex node connections for curtain wall support steel structures, daylighting roof grids, canopy steel structures, and other architecturally shaped applications.
