SQUARE HEAD BOLT — PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
The square head bolt is a standard fastener with a quadrangular (square) head, manufactured to standards such as GB/T 8 (Chinese National Standard) and ASME B18.2.1 (American Standard). The head is specifically designed as a square shape, facilitating tightening with a wrench or pipe wrench in confined spaces or grooves. It is particularly suitable for applications with significant vibration, requiring high preload force, or where operating space is limited. The product covers various materials including ordinary carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel, with specifications ranging from M10 to M48 (or 1/2" to 2"), meeting the connection needs of different industries such as mechanical equipment, engineering construction, and piping flanges.
I. PRODUCT FEATURES
Quadrangular Head Structure: The head is a standard square shape, designed to be used with open-end wrenches, ratchet wrenches, or specialized sockets. It provides excellent grip and is not prone to slipping, making it particularly suitable for oily, confined, or vertical surface installations.
Multi-Standard Coverage: Available in Chinese National Standard GB/T 8-2021 and American Standard ASME B18.2.1, with threads and dimensions fully compliant with standards, offering excellent interchangeability.
Clear Strength Grades: Available in multiple grades including 4.8 (standard), 8.8, and 10.9 (high strength). The head is typically forged with the strength marking directly on it, facilitating easy on-site identification.
Mature Manufacturing Process: Small specifications use cold heading forming, while large specifications (M20 and above) or high-strength requirements use hot forging (red forging) forming, ensuring continuous fiber structure and internal density.
Diverse Surface Treatments: Available in black oxide, galvanized, hot-dip galvanized, Dacromet, and stainless steel natural finish, adapting to indoor, outdoor, and corrosive environments.
II. PRODUCT ADVANTAGES
Reliable Anti-Slip, Won’t Round Off: The square head structure provides four clear gripping surfaces. Even with slight surface rust or oil contamination, the wrench is unlikely to slip, reducing the risk of damage during installation and removal.
Suitable for Confined Spaces: In equipment gaps where wrench swing angle is restricted, the square head bolt allows the wrench to engage smoothly with each 90° rotation, making it easier to tighten in dead corners and deep grooves compared to hexagonal heads.
High Preload Force Capacity: High-strength square head bolts (Grade 8.8/10.9) formed by hot forging (red forging) can withstand greater installation torque and axial tension, meeting heavy-duty connection requirements.
Excellent Interchangeability and Versatility: Standardized dimensions ensure perfect matching with existing equipment, eliminating concerns about specification mismatches during maintenance and replacement.
Low Total Life Cycle Cost: Carbon steel galvanized or stainless steel materials are corrosion and wear resistant. With proper selection, the product offers long service life, effectively reducing replacement frequency and maintenance costs.
III. SCOPE OF APPLICATION
Mechanical Equipment: Fixed connections for machine tool bases, stamping equipment, vibrating screens, injection molding machine platens, and other applications requiring anti-loosening properties and easy maintenance.
Engineering and Steel Structures: Temporary or permanent connections for steel structure workshops, bridge bearings, tower nodes, etc. (using high-strength square head bolts).
Piping and Valves: Flange connections, valve gland packing, pipe supports, and other locations requiring pressure resistance and convenient side-tightening access.
Agricultural and Mining Machinery: Fixing of wear-resistant parts operating in harsh environments and requiring frequent replacement, such as plowshares, harvester blades, and conveyor scrapers.
Railway and Vehicles: Connections for components subject to impact and vibration, such as railway fasteners, heavy-duty truck chassis attachments, and traction connection plates.
Vintage Equipment and Retro Devices: Quadrangular head connections for steam engines, vintage tractors, antique valves, and reproduction furniture that preserve the authentic industrial style.
