Wire Rope Clip——Product Introduction
The wire rope clip (also called wire rope clamp, rope clamp or clip) is a rigging device used for fixing and connecting wire ropes. It usually consists of a clamp seat and a U-bolt. By tightening the nut, the wire rope is clamped between the clamp seat and the U-bolt, achieving fixing or connection of the rope end. The product complies with the national standard GB/T 5976-2006 and is suitable for wire ropes with nominal diameters from 3 mm to 60 mm, among which 6, 8, 10, 12 and 15 mm are the most commonly used specifications.
1. Product Features
• Structural composition: Mainly composed of a clamp seat (pressure plate) and a U-bolt (with nut). The structure is simple and installation is convenient.
• Classification by manufacturing process: Can be divided into cast, forged and stainless steel types. Cast rope clips are mostly used for static tying (such as power and communication lines), forged rope clips are suitable for dynamic load-bearing (such as lifting machinery and mining equipment), and stainless steel rope clips are often used in ships, chemical and other environments due to their corrosion resistance.
• Material selection: Commonly made of high-strength carbon steel, alloy steel or stainless steel (304/316). Carbon steel parts can be galvanized or otherwise surface-treated to enhance corrosion resistance.
• Lay direction matching requirement: Wire ropes are divided into left lay and right lay. The rope groove surface of the clip seat should match the lay direction of the wire rope. Therefore, rope clips are also divided into left clips and right clips and cannot be mixed.
• Complete specification series: Nominal specifications cover 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 28, 32, 36 and 40 mm, etc., with matching nut specifications from M6 to M36.
2. Product Advantages
• Reliable connection: After correct installation, the strength at the fixing point of the rope clip is at least 80% of the wire rope’s own strength, meeting the safety requirements for lifting and hoisting.
• Flexible installation: Suitable for temporary connection of wire ropes, rope end fixing, fixing of the tail rope when reeving pulley blocks, and fixing of guy rope ends, etc.
• Advantages of forging process: Forged rope clips have a dense internal structure and better mechanical properties than cast parts. After destructive heavy-pressure tests, the clamp seat undergoes plastic deformation without breaking, providing higher safety.
• Clear selection specifications: The standard specifies matching nut specifications and dimensional parameters, facilitating design selection and procurement.
3. Scope of Application
• Lifting and hoisting: Wire rope end fixing and connection in cranes, mining transportation, ships, construction and other fields.
• Construction machinery: Dynamic load-bearing tying in engineering lifting machinery and mining equipment.
• Power and communications: Static fastening of wire ropes in power lines and communication lines.
• Ships and chemical industry: Stainless steel rope clips are suitable for ship accessories, chemical plants and corrosive environments.
• General rigging: Temporary connection of wire ropes, fixing of tail ropes for pulley blocks, fixing of guy rope ends, etc.
