Small Hex Cap Nut (One-Piece) — Product Introduction
A small hex cap nut (one-piece) is a hexagon nut with a closed end and a dome-shaped outer contour. The nut body and cap are formed in a single operation by cold heading or hot heading — with no welding and no splicing. Its hex width across flats is smaller than that of a standard hex nut of the same size, making it suitable for applications with limited installation space. The product complies with JIS B 1183-2010. Common materials include carbon steel (e.g., SWRCH10R, SWRCH12R) or stainless steel (e.g., SUS304). Surface treatments are mostly zinc plating, nickel plating, passivation, etc., and can be selected according to the service environment.
I. Product Features
- One-piece formed structure: The nut and its closed cap have no seams and no weld points, providing high overall strength with no risk of cap detachment or weld seam cracking.
- Small hex design: The hex width across flats is smaller than that of a standard hex nut, occupying less space and suiting narrow installation positions, and convenient for operation with thin-wall sockets or special tools.
- Fully closed end: One end of the nut is a domed closed end that fully encloses the exposed bolt threads, protecting the threads from damage and corrosion and preventing scratches to personnel, cables, etc.
- Compliant with JIS B 1183-2010: Dimensions, tolerances, and profile meet the requirements of the Japanese Industrial Standard, providing good versatility and interchangeability.
- Selectable materials and surface treatments: Common materials include carbon steel (higher strength, economical cost) and stainless steel (good corrosion resistance); surface treatments such as zinc plating, nickel plating, chrome plating, and passivation are available.
II. Product Advantages
- High reliability: The one-piece structure avoids the loosening and detachment problems possible with two-piece caps, suiting applications with vibration or safety requirements.
- Good protective performance: The closed end effectively prevents water, oil, and dust from entering the threaded connection, while protecting the bolt end from impact damage and corrosion.
- Good adaptability to installation space: The small hex head reduces the outer diameter footprint of the nut, facilitating installation in dense pipe runs, cramped enclosures, or compact equipment.
- Neat and attractive appearance: After installation, the exposed part is a smooth domed surface with no sharp corners or exposed threads, improving the overall appearance and safety of the equipment.
- High standardization, convenient selection: Manufactured to JIS B 1183-2010 with uniform specifications, compatible with other standard-compliant bolts and studs, and convenient for design and procurement.
III. Application Scope
Small hex cap nuts (one-piece) are widely used in applications where exposed threads require protection, rust and corrosion prevention, scratch prevention, and where installation space is limited. Common fields include:
- Machinery and equipment: Machine tool housings, protective covers, transmission housings, pumps and valves, etc.
- Automobiles, motorcycles, and bicycles: Frame connections, fixing of appearance parts, pipe and line fixing, etc.
- Electronic and electrical appliances, instruments and meters: Chassis and cabinets, control panels, sensor brackets, etc.
- Furniture and architectural decoration: Metal railings, stair handrails, exhibition display stands, outdoor facilities, etc.
- Piping and fluid equipment: Valves, flange guards, pipe clamps, and other positions requiring a degree of sealing protection.
- Communication and power equipment: Antenna brackets, cabinet door panels, insulator fixing, etc.
- Other threaded connections requiring anti-loosening, anti-rust, and anti-collision protection.
