Heavy Spring Washer — Product Introduction
The heavy spring washer is a spring lock washer with a thicker cross-section and higher load-bearing capacity, commonly used in threaded connections subject to heavy loads or significant vibration. Compared with standard spring washers (GB/T 93), heavy spring washers have a thicker wire cross-section, larger outer and inner diameters, stronger elastic reaction force, and more reliable anti-loosening performance. The commonly used domestic standard is GB/T 7244, and heavy spring washers referencing DIN 127-B are also frequently seen. Materials are typically spring steels such as 65Mn, 60Si2Mn, and 70 steel, hardened and tempered to a general hardness of HRC 42–50. Surface treatments include black oxide, phosphating, zinc plating, and dacromet to meet general corrosion resistance requirements.
I. Product Features
- Thickened cross-section: Compared with standard spring washers, heavy spring washers have a thicker wire cross-section and greater load-bearing capacity.
- Strong elastic recovery: Made from high-quality spring steel, they exhibit excellent elasticity after heat treatment and can maintain clamping force over the long term.
- Reliable anti-loosening effect: The split offset structure generates axial reaction force after tightening, increasing friction between the threaded pair and effectively preventing loosening.
- High strength and hardness: Hardness is typically HRC 42–50, enabling them to withstand high preload and impact loads.
- Unified standard sizes: Compliant with GB/T 7244 or corresponding heavy-duty standards, with standardized dimensions for easy selection and interchangeability.
- Optional surface treatments: Black oxide, phosphating, zinc plating, dacromet, etc., adaptable to different corrosive environments.
II. Product Advantages
- Suitable for heavy-duty conditions: Thicker and stronger than standard spring washers, capable of withstanding greater axial loads and vibration.
- Superior anti-loosening performance: Maintains stable clamping force even under severe vibration and impact, reducing the risk of bolt loosening.
- Long service life: High-quality spring steel combined with proper heat treatment provides excellent fatigue resistance, minimizing failure even after repeated use.
- Easy installation: Like ordinary spring washers, it is simply placed over the bolt without the need for special tools.
- Cost-effective: In situations where higher anti-loosening performance is required but lock nuts or anaerobic adhesive are impractical, the heavy spring washer is a cost-efficient choice.
- Wide range of applications: Compatible with hex bolts, studs, and other fasteners, widely used across heavy industrial sectors.
III. Application Scope
- Heavy machinery: Heavy-load connection points in mining machinery, metallurgical equipment, forging and pressing machinery, and lifting equipment.
- Construction machinery: Connections in the chassis and structural components of excavators, loaders, and bulldozers, which are subject to intense vibration.
- Construction and bridges: Steel structure connections, bridge bearings, tower structures, and other locations requiring highly reliable anti-loosening.
- Rail transportation: Connections in railway vehicles, rail fasteners, and pantographs that experience significant vibration.
- Shipbuilding and marine engineering: Shipboard equipment, deck machinery, and hatch covers requiring both anti-loosening and corrosion resistance.
- Other heavy-load vibration applications: Anywhere standard spring washers cannot meet anti-loosening requirements and more complex anti-loosening methods are impractical, heavy spring washers are an appropriate choice.
