Hexagon Weld Nut with Flange — Product Introduction
The hexagon weld nut with flange is a fastener with a hexagonal end on one side and a flange face with welding projections on the other side. The flange face increases the contact area with the base material, and the welding projections concentrate current during projection welding to form stable weld spots, thereby firmly welding the nut onto steel plates or sheet metal parts. This type of nut is suitable for thread specifications M5–M16 (coarse thread) and nominal diameters 8–16 mm (fine thread), product grade A, and can be used with bolts of property class not exceeding 10.9.
1. Product Features
• Hexagon flange structure: The hexagonal head facilitates wrench operation, and the flange face increases the bearing area, disperses pressure, and reduces damage to the surface of the connected parts.
• Welding projection design: The flange face has multiple welding projections. During projection welding, current is concentrated at the projections, rapidly fusing to form firm weld spots with small welding deformation.
• Complete specification coverage: Suitable for M5–M16 coarse threads and D=8 mm–16 mm fine threads, product grade A.
• Weldability requirements for material: Common materials are steels with carbon content not greater than 0.25% and good weldability, suitable for the projection welding process.
• Optional surface treatment: Usually delivered without surface treatment, but zinc plating and passivation can also be applied according to requirements.
2. Product Advantages
• High connection strength: After welding, the nut and plate form a metallurgical bond, with good pull-out and torsion resistance, capable of withstanding relatively high tightening torque.
• High assembly efficiency: It can be pre-welded onto sheet metal parts and then directly assembled with bolts, suitable for automated production lines.
• Single-side operation: Welding and assembly are required only from one side of the plate, suitable for closed structures or situations where the back side is inaccessible.
• Eliminates tapping process: There is no need to tap internal threads in thin plates; the welded nut directly provides a reliable threaded connection point.
• High standardization: Uniform dimensions and good interchangeability facilitate design selection and spare parts management.
3. Scope of Application
• Automotive industry: Thin plate connection points such as body sheet metal, chassis, seat frames and brackets.
• Home appliances and electrical appliances: Fixing of sheet metal housings, control boxes and internal components of air conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines.
• Chassis and cabinets: Sheet metal assembly of electrical control cabinets, communication cabinets, distribution boxes and server chassis.
• Rail transit and construction machinery: Connection of cover parts, protective guards and thin plate structural parts.
• General sheet metal manufacturing: Thin plate connection applications requiring weld nuts, such as metal furniture, shelves, elevator components and agricultural machinery.
