Flat Round Head Rivet Nut — Product Introduction
The flat round head rivet nut is an internally threaded fastener installed on sheet metal or tubing through a pull-riveting method. Its head features a flat round shape and complies with the UNI 9201-1988 standard. During installation, the nut is simply inserted from one side of the sheet into a pre-drilled hole, and a rivet gun pulls the nut causing its tail to deform and expand, thereby clamping the nut firmly onto the sheet and providing a reliable threaded hole for subsequent bolt connections.
Common materials include carbon steel, stainless steel (A2/A4), and aluminum alloy. Surface treatments such as zinc plating, nickel plating, and passivation are available to meet different environmental and strength requirements.
I. Product Features
- Single-side installation, no back-side access required: Only the front side of the sheet needs to be reached, making it especially suitable for closed profiles, tubing, or situations where the back side is inaccessible.
- Flat round head design: The low-profile head with smooth edges leaves the sheet surface flat and attractive after installation, with minimal protrusion — ideal for appearance-critical applications.
- Standardized internal thread: Thread dimensions and tolerances conform to relevant standards, ensuring compatibility with standard bolts and screws and providing strong versatility.
- Multiple material options: Carbon steel, stainless steel (A2/A4), and aluminum alloy are commonly available; material can be selected to match the sheet and usage environment, avoiding galvanic corrosion.
- Strong clamping force after installation, resistant to rotation: After pull-riveting, the nut forms a firm mechanical lock with the sheet, offering vibration resistance and anti-loosening performance, capable of withstanding considerable tensile and torque loads.
II. Product Advantages
- Solves tapping difficulties on thin sheets: Provides high-strength, durable metal threads on thin sheets, thin-walled tubes, and other materials where tapping is impossible or insufficient in strength.
- Fast and efficient installation: Installation is quickly completed with a pneumatic or manual rivet gun, making it ideal for mass production and on-site assembly.
- Reliable connection, vibration-resistant and anti-loosening: The rivet nut forms a tight clamp with the sheet, preventing rotation and loosening — suitable for vibrating environments.
- Flat and attractive appearance: The flat round head sits flush with or slightly above the sheet surface, preserving the overall appearance and avoiding scratches to other components.
- Bolts can be repeatedly assembled and disassembled: The nut itself remains fixed; bolts can be screwed in and out multiple times without damaging the thread, facilitating easy maintenance.
- Wide range of compatible base materials: Can be installed on steel sheets, aluminum sheets, stainless steel sheets, plastics, composite materials, and various other thin-sheet materials.
III. Application Scope
Flat round head rivet nuts are widely used in thin-sheet connection applications requiring single-side installation of internal threads. Common fields include:
- Automotive manufacturing: Body sheet metal, chassis components, interior panels, roof racks, bumper brackets, etc.
- Rail transit: Compartment wall panels, equipment mounting plates, cable brackets, etc.
- Enclosures and cabinets: Electrical cabinets, control boxes, communication racks, instrument housings, etc.
- Home appliance manufacturing: Washing machines, refrigerators, microwave ovens, air conditioner housings, and other thin-sheet connections.
- Aerospace: Aircraft interior panels, thin-walled structural components, etc.
- Building and decoration: Metal curtain walls, ceiling systems, door and window frames, railings, etc.
- Furniture and office equipment: Metal furniture, office desks and chairs, printer and copier frames, etc.
- Shipbuilding and containers: Interior fit-outs, pipe supports, electrical equipment mounting, etc.
