Hexagonal Clinch Nut — Product Introduction
The hexagonal clinch nut is a fastener designed for thin-sheet connections. During installation, a specialized tool causes the nut’s tail end to expand and deform, clamping the sheet material to form a strong internal thread connection point on the thin plate. The head features an external hexagonal shape, allowing easy assembly and disassembly with standard wrenches while providing excellent torque resistance. Common materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum alloy; surfaces can be treated with zinc plating, blackening, nickel plating, and other finishes, making it ideal for single-sided installation, enclosed profiles, and thin-plate structures requiring reliable torque resistance.
I. Product Features
- Hexagonal head, easy assembly and disassembly: The head is a standard hexagonal shape compatible with open-end wrenches, socket wrenches, or box-end wrenches for tightening and removal, with simple operation requiring no special tools.
- Clinch deformation fixation, single-sided installation: During installation, the nut is simply inserted from one side of the sheet; pull- or press-riveting causes the nut tail to expand and clamp the sheet without requiring access to the opposite side — particularly suitable for enclosed profiles and locations where two-sided access is impractical.
- Excellent torque resistance: The large contact area between the hexagonal head and the sheet, combined with hexagonal holes or friction from clamping, effectively prevents nut rotation during installation and use, improving joint stability.
- Suitable for thin-plate connections: Forms reliable threads on relatively thin metal sheets, plastic sheets, or composite panels, with a wide applicable thickness range depending on nut size and sheet material.
- High thread accuracy, excellent fit: The internal thread is manufactured to standard tolerances, ensuring good compatibility with metric, Unified, or inch-series bolts and screws for consistent connections.
- Diverse materials and surface treatments: Materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, or aluminum alloy can be selected based on the operating environment, with surface treatments including zinc plating, blackening, nickel plating, and passivation to meet anti-corrosion and appearance requirements.
- Good tensile and torque strength: After clinching, the nut and sheet form a large clamping area capable of withstanding considerable axial tension and torque, suitable for general structural connections.
II. Product Advantages
- Single-sided installation, ideal for enclosed structures: Only one-side access is required, making it especially suitable for square tubes, round tubes, profiles, enclosures, and other enclosed or semi-enclosed structures where access from the other side is impossible.
- Hexagonal head prevents rotation for more reliable joints: Compared to round-head or knurled-head clinch nuts, the hexagonal head resists rotation more effectively and is less likely to spin along with the bolt during tightening, particularly suited for locations with frequent assembly and disassembly.
- High installation efficiency: Pneumatic or manual pull-rivet tools enable rapid installation; simple operation makes it ideal for mass production and on-site construction.
- No damage to sheet surface: The installation process requires no welding or thermal influence zone, avoiding discoloration, deformation, or damage to pre-coated, galvanized, or powder-coated sheet surfaces.
- Lower overall cost: Eliminates the need for pre-tapping threads in the sheet, reducing machining steps; meanwhile, installation tools are widely compatible, lowering total manufacturing costs.
- Wide material compatibility: In addition to metal thin sheets, it can also be used on certain plastic sheets, fiberglass, and composite panels, expanding application scenarios.
- Good repeat assembly/disassembly performance: Under proper use conditions, bolts can be threaded in and out multiple times without significantly damaging the nut thread, facilitating maintenance and replacement.
III. Application Areas
- Enclosures and electronic equipment: Connection points on server racks, distribution boxes, control cabinets, communication cabinets, and power housings.
- Automotive and rail transit: Connections on body sheet metal, interior components, electrical boxes, seat brackets, battery housings, and carriage accessories.
- Sheet metal fabrication and enclosure manufacturing: Quick-connect structures for various sheet metal parts, enclosure panels, brackets, protective covers, and operator consoles.
- Hardware and furniture manufacturing: Metal furniture, display racks, shelving, door and window profiles, guardrails, and decorative structures.
- Ventilation and air conditioning equipment: Duct connections, fan housings, air-conditioner sheet metal parts, and cleanroom equipment housings.
- Agricultural and construction machinery: Sheet metal covers, guards, instrument boxes, electrical enclosures, and control consoles.
- New energy and energy storage equipment: Battery pack housings, EV charger enclosures, photovoltaic bracket connections, and energy storage cabinet sheet metal parts.
