Type 2 Non-Metal Insert Hex Flange Lock Nut – Product Introduction
This is an effective torque-type anti-loosening nut specifically designed for heavy-duty and high-strength connections. Compared with Type 1, it features a greater nut height and higher load-bearing capacity. It integrates a one-piece flange face (replacing flat washers) and a built-in nylon insert (replacing spring washers and other anti-loosening components). When the bolt is threaded in, the thread squeezes the nylon ring to generate a powerful locking torque, ensuring firm locking even under severe impact and vibration.
I. Product Features
Type 2 High Nut Design: The nut height is significantly greater than Type 1, providing a longer thread engagement length that guarantees high-strength connection requirements, typically corresponding to Grade 10 or Grade 12.
Integrated Flange Face for Pressure Distribution: The enlarged flange at the base increases the contact area, distributes pressure evenly, and eliminates the need for additional flat washers.
Nylon Insert Locking: Equipped with standard PA66 nylon ring that generates stable and repeatable effective torque, ensuring reliable anti-loosening performance.
Defined Temperature Resistance Range: PA66 insert is suitable for -50°C to +120°C, with short-term tolerance for higher temperatures, though locking performance may decline.
Quenching and Tempering Treatment: The nut body undergoes heat treatment to meet the high-strength requirements of Grade 10 or Grade 12.
II. Product Advantages
Higher Load-Bearing Capacity: The Type 2 structure ensures that proof load and tensile strength are significantly higher than Type 1 nuts of the same specification, making it suitable for higher preload applications.
Ultimate Anti-Loosening Performance: Delivers robust performance under extreme vibration and alternating loads, making it a reliable choice for critical locations such as automotive chassis and engines.
Simplified Assembly: One component integrates three functions — fastening, anti-loosening, and pressure distribution — reducing part count and eliminating missing spring washers, flat washers, or both.
Workpiece Surface Protection: The smooth-edged flange face will not damage workpiece surface coatings or metal the way spring washers sometimes can.
Standardized Interchangeability: Strictly conforms to national standard Type 2 dimensions, directly interchangeable with nuts of the same standard, facilitating maintenance and replacement.
III. Applications
Suitable for heavy-duty structures with extremely high safety and reliability requirements and exposure to severe vibration:
Commercial Vehicles and Construction Machinery: Heavy-duty truck chassis suspension, engine mounts, wheel hubs, and driveshaft connections.
Rail Transit: Bogie components, coupler draft gears, and critical trackside equipment.
Mining and Construction Machinery: Structural fastening of crushers, vibrating screens, pile drivers, and other heavy-impact equipment.
Wind Power Generation: High-strength components inside nacelles and pitch bearing connections.
Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering: Hatch covers, equipment bases, and other locations requiring both corrosion resistance and anti-loosening performance.
