Wohe Fastener has added a one-metre fully threaded rod stock range covering 25 listed metric sizes from M3 to M64. The rods can be ordered at full length or used as starting stock for cut-to-length pieces, chamfered or machined ends, surface finishing and shipment-specific packing after the line-item requirements are confirmed.

For an overseas buyer, that distinction matters. A “standard threaded rod” RFQ often stops being standard after the first column: one purchase order may combine full lengths, several finished lengths, more than one surface condition and packing groups that must still be recognizable at destination. Stock answers whether a suitable starting size is available. The purchase specification defines what finally arrives.

A one-metre stock length opens more than one supply route

Fully threaded rod—also known as all-thread rod or threaded bar—has an external thread along its length. In one order it may leave at the original one-metre length; in another, the same stock format may be divided into shorter pieces and processed before packing.

Imagine a mixed RFQ containing M8 full lengths, M12 in several cut lengths and M20 with additional end work. Each line can be reviewed against the stock range, but each follows its own route. The cutting yield, end preparation, finish and packing identity cannot be borrowed from another line simply because both products began as one-metre rods.

This is also why cutting yield is not calculated by dividing 1000 mm by the requested length. Saw kerf removes material, chamfering or facing may need an allowance, and the finished-length tolerance can affect how many acceptable pieces come from one rod. If an end must be turned to a defined diameter or profile, that feature belongs in the cutting plan before the starting quantity is calculated.

The range is broad, but the size statement is exact

The current list contains M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, M12, M14, M16, M18, M20, M22, M24, M27, M30, M33, M36, M39, M40, M42, M45, M48, M52, M56 and M64. These are 25 specific nominal sizes. “M3–M64” describes the span of the list; it does not mean that every whole-millimetre diameter between M3 and M64 is stocked.

The M designation is an important identity, but not a complete purchasing specification. It indicates the nominal metric thread diameter. Pitch still has to be confirmed, particularly where a fine pitch, left-hand thread or another thread form may be involved. A rod that looks close in diameter can still fail to match the nut or threaded part at the receiving end.

Material, mechanical requirements and surface finish are separate parts of the decision. The same nominal diameter may be requested in different materials or performance conditions, and “zinc plated” is not enough when the coating process, dimensional effect or acceptance requirement matters. A listed diameter therefore should not be read as a promise that every pitch, material, property class and finish combination is simultaneously on the shelf.

Secondary processing should follow the finished part

The stock description is “one-metre fully threaded rod,” but the item on the packing list may already be a finished cut piece. Cut length establishes the basic geometry. Chamfering removes the sharp entry and helps a matching nut start more cleanly. Thread repair addresses a first thread affected during cutting or handling, while turning is used when an approved drawing calls for a defined end diameter or local feature.

These operations are connected. A burr left at the end can interfere with assembly even when the length is correct. A turned feature changes the usable starting length. Surface treatment performed before cutting may leave the cut face in a different condition from the rod body, while treatment after cutting must still remain compatible with the required dimensions and thread fit.

For that reason, Wohe reviews the processing sequence against the finished line item rather than treating cutting, end work and finishing as unrelated add-ons. The agreed checks—such as length, end condition and nut run-on—are then placed before packing, where they can still be tied to the correct size and quantity.

Export packing begins with line-item identity

By the time a mixed shipment reaches the receiving dock, M12 and M14 cut pieces may look similar at a glance, and two lengths of the same diameter may share the same finish. If bundles are not identified clearly, an otherwise correct order can create measuring and re-sorting work before the parts reach production or the jobsite.

Custom packing therefore starts with a simple question: how will the receiving team connect each bundle to the correct purchase-order line? Depending on the confirmed requirement, diameters and lengths can be separated, labels can follow blank or buyer-approved content, and inner protection, cartons and pallet arrangements can be coordinated with the packing list. The purpose is not decorative packaging; it is to preserve the identity of the product from packing through receipt.

Connect the stock rod to the final application

For each line item, the useful starting information is the thread designation, full or finished length and tolerance, material or mechanical requirement, surface finish, end work, quantity and packing identity. Any required inspection or traceability document should be named with the line it covers. Destination and handling conditions help define the outer packing; they do not replace the product specification.

Where only an installation location or an old part is available, photographs of the whole part, close views of the thread and end, mating-component information, measured dimensions and the service environment can help identify what is still missing. They can support an RFQ review, but a safety-critical connection still requires the appropriate drawing, design approval or technical specification.

One-metre stock is a practical route for listed diameters and conventional cut-length requirements. A special material, fine or left-hand pitch, complex end geometry, application-specific surface system, mandatory certification or a length plan that does not suit one-metre starting stock should move into a separate custom review.
