Product Overview
A Chemical Anchor Bolt is a two-component structural fastening system consisting of a threaded rod (stud bolt) and a high-performance chemical adhesive (resin), engineered for cast-in-place installation into base materials such as concrete, masonry, and natural stone. Unlike mechanical anchors that rely on friction or expansion, it creates a full, load-distributing bond by curing the adhesive within a pre-drilled hole, resulting in exceptional pull-out strength, resistance to vibration, and suitability for use in cracked concrete and edge/group configurations. It is the preferred solution for critical, high-load structural connections in construction and renovation.
Key Advantages
Highest Load Capacity in Concrete: Achieves superior pull-out and shear strength compared to most mechanical anchors, especially in cracked concrete conditions.
Uniform Stress Distribution: The bonded interface distributes loads evenly throughout the anchorage depth, minimizing stress concentrations in the base material.
Vibration & Shock Resistance: The resilient chemical bond effectively dampens dynamic loads, preventing loosening.
Versatile in Challenging Conditions: Suitable for use near edges, in narrow members, and in water-saturated or underwater applications (with specific resins).
No Expansion Forces: Generates zero hoop stress during installation, making it safe for use in brittle materials like hollow block, natural stone, and pre-stressed concrete.
Gap-Bridging Capability: Can fill irregular holes and anchor oversized rods, accommodating some tolerance in drilling.
System Components & Material Specifications
A complete chemical anchor system comprises two primary elements:
1. Threaded Rod (Stud Bolt):
| Material Standard | Grade / Class | Finish | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon Steel | ISO 898-1 Class 8.8 / 10.9 | Hot-Dip Galvanized (HDG) or Geomet® | High strength for general structural anchoring. HDG provides basic corrosion protection. |
| Stainless Steel | ISO 3506-1 A4-80 (316) | Passivated | For corrosive environments. Marine, chemical plants, exterior facades. |
| Threaded Rebar | ASTM A615 / B500B | – | For ultimate bond performance and ductility in seismic applications. |
2. Chemical Adhesive (Resin Cartridge/Injection System):
| Resin Type | Base Chemistry | Key Features & Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Vinylester | Vinylester | Fast-curing, good chemical resistance. General-purpose, cost-effective. |
| Unsaturated Polyester | Polyester | Very fast cure, lower cost. For non-critical, light to medium loads in dry, interior conditions. |
| Epoxy | Epoxy Acrylate / Pure Epoxy | Highest performance. Excellent creep resistance, highest strength, tolerates damp holes, and is suitable for cracked concrete per ETAG 001. |
| Hybrid Systems | MS Polymer | Low odor, good flexibility, and excellent performance in damp conditions. |
International Approvals & Standards Compliance
Our chemical anchor systems are tested and approved for use in accordance with the most stringent international standards for structural safety:
European Technical Approval Guideline: ETAG 001 (Anchors for use in concrete) for categories C1 (Cracked Concrete) and C2 (Uncracked Concrete).
North American Standards: ICC-ES ESR reports, compliance with ACI 318 Appendix D.
Fire Resistance: Tested per ETAG 001 Part 5 / ISO 834 for specific fire exposure durations (e.g., R60, R90, R120).
Seismic Performance: Evaluated for use in seismic zones per relevant building codes.
Installation Procedure (Critical for Performance)
Proper installation is paramount. The certified procedure includes:
Drilling: Use a rotary hammer drill with a carbide bit to the specified diameter and depth. Drill depth > anchorage depth.
Hole Cleaning: Most Critical Step. Use wire brush, compressed air, and vacuum to remove all dust (recommended: “clean, blow, clean” sequence).
Injection: Insert the mixed resin cartridge into the hole using a dedicated dispensing gun. Inject from the bottom upwards to avoid air pockets.
Insertion: Slowly rotate and insert the cleaned threaded rod to the full depth, ensuring full embedment and resin coverage.
Curing: Allow the resin to cure fully before applying any load. Cure time depends on resin type and ambient temperature (see technical data sheet).
Typical Applications
Structural Steel Connections: Column bases, beam-to-column connections, steel brackets.
Facade & Curtain Wall Systems: Anchoring rails and brackets for stone, metal, or glass facades.
Infrastructure: Bridge railings, highway sign supports, barrier attachments.
Industrial: Securing heavy machinery, conveyor systems, and crane rails to concrete floors.
Renovation & Retrofitting: Adding new structural elements to existing concrete structures.
Quality Assurance
Third-Party Certification: Products carry EOTA or ICC-ES approval marks, with publicly available European Technical Assessments (ETA) or Evaluation Service Reports (ESR).
Batch Testing: Resin components are tested for gel time, cure characteristics, and compressive strength.
Full Traceability: All components are traceable to production batches. Comprehensive technical data sheets (TDS) and installation manuals are provided.
System Responsibility: We supply the complete, tested anchor-adhesive system, ensuring compatibility and guaranteed performance.

Disclaimer: The performance of a chemical anchor is entirely dependent on correct product selection for the application and, most critically, strict adherence to the published installation instructions. This document is for informational purposes only. The design and specification of anchors for any structural application must be performed by a qualified engineer in accordance with local building codes and the product’s current European Technical Assessment (ETA) or equivalent report.
